To be Wild 01/27/2012

It is my fourth day at Brush Creek Ranch Foundation for the Arts residency in Saratoga, WY.  Along with four other artists, I share 13,000 acres of wild wintery terrain.  Simultaneous with the tranquility of the the landscape, is a wild energy.  The catalysts unquantifiable.  Bison, longhorns, ranch dogs, antelope, and the history of 150 years tended to this space.  I spent yesterday hiking, following nothing but animal footprints in the snow.

Wow!! Very unsual!! I like it very much!! It's so out of the ordinary. Love the contrasts of colors in the first one. I can hear the silence. Your self portrait keeps me guessing...yet I have to admire the beautiful skin you captured and is all natural. And the third one... so different... those flowers look like feathers. You have such an eye to capture things like these!!!

They are feathers! It is an outdoor sculpture a previous artist made while here. So beautiful.

The subtle colors of the winter landscape are so difficult to capture- beautiful. Sunny skies ahead better get up early to capture the diffused light.

Thank you Brian. I think a sunrise hike to a nearby suspension bridge is the plan. :)
